UQAM students receive more than $15 million in scholarships annually. Hundreds of scholarship programs provide financial support to students in pursuit of their university studies.

Employment during your studies
On campus
Foreign students can work on campus as soon as they arrive. Many students get temporary jobs with certain services such as student cafés, the Student Recruitment Office, the Library Service or the Registrar's Office. Work as teaching or research assistants, mentors or lecturers is also available to more advanced (generally graduate) students.
Off campus
Some students will have the opportunity to work off campus during their studies at UQAM. To learn the eligibility requirements, as well as the procedure to follow, please see the Immigration and Citizenship Canada website.
Employment in Quebec after obtaining a degree
After successfully completing your program of study, you might be allowed to get a job. To do so, you must meet certain requirements and obtain a work permit.
This permit can be issued for a maximum period of 3 years. The work permit, however, cannot be of longer duration than the program of study that you have completed.
Program duration | Maximum duration of work permit |
---|---|
Less than 8 months | Not eligible |
8 to 24 months | Same duration as that of the completed program |
24 months and over | 3 years maximum |
See the section on post-graduation work on the Immigration and Citizenship Canada website.
