Objectifs
The overall objective of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand, analyze and enhance teacher and student well-being in L2 education. By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- define and critically evaluate the key dimensions of teacher and student well-being in L2 education, including emotional, psychological, and ecological factors,
- analyze the role of emotions, motivation, and identity in fostering successful and supportive L2 learning environments,
- identify stressors and challenges for teachers and students, and develop effective coping mechanisms and resilience strategies,
- design and implement classroom activities that integrate well-being principles for both teachers and learners,
- reflect on personal practices and create sustainable action plans to support professional and personal well-being.

This course examines the intertwined well-being of teachers and students in second language (L2) learning environments. Students will explore theory, research and their real-world implication as practical strategies to support emotional, cognitive, and professional well-being. Topics include the impact of teacher identity, emotional labor, and systemic challenges on educators. The course also explores fostering positive emotions, motivation, and inclusion for language students. Combining reflective practice, case studies, and applied projects, this course equips future and current educators with tools to create thriving L2 classrooms that promote holistic well-being.
