Objectifs
The overall objective of this course is for students to learn about cultural and intercultural dimensions and their importance in teaching and learning English as a second language. By the end of this course, students will be able to critically examine the theoretical foundations of culture and interculturality and apply these principles to the design and adaptation of language learning activities and situations in various second language teaching environments.

This course focuses on the connections between language, culture, and society for the teaching of English as a second language. Students will examine important theories and concepts related to culture and interculturality, which are underpinned by the recognition and appreciation of the plurilingual and pluricultural identities of learners. Students will also learn about the integration of cultural and intercultural elements in teaching and learning activities and situations for developing language skills and components. Additionally, a critical analysis of these elements will be conducted related to teaching materials, including authentic documents, and related to language assessment. Moreover, the influence of sociocultural contexts on second language teaching and learning will be addressed.
