Objectifs
The overall objective of this course is to give students the opportunity to reflect on their current and future practice as teachers of English as a second language. By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- understand and apply the key concepts of reflective practice to ESL teaching contexts,
- critically examine and refine their personal teaching beliefs, practices and interactions,
- use reflective tools such as teaching journals, concept mapping and peer observation,
- design and develop a professional teaching portfolio to document growth and achievement,
- create a personalized professional development plan for long-term career growth,
- leverage collaborative networks and digital tools to support reflective practice.

This course aims to help pre-service teachers of English as a second language explore the theoretical foundations and practical applications of reflective practice, with an emphasis on portfolio creation and professional development. Students will develop strategies for fostering self-awareness, improving classroom practice and career trajectories. Key topics include teacher beliefs and identity, classroom communication, diversity, equality and inclusion, action research and collaborative development. Participants will create a professional teaching portfolio as a tool for reflection, showcasing their growth, achievements and future goals. Practical tools such as teaching journals and peer observations will be integrated to develop enduring reflective habits and professional development plans.
