Objectifs
The overall objective of this course is to provide students with a space to explore an innovative or important topic (or topics) in the field of teaching and learning second languages. By the end of the course, students will have:
- developed their ability to critically reflect on new ideas in language teaching and learning,
- improved in their ability to present cogent and focused arguments on these new ideas,
- demonstrated an ability to reflect on topics for their overall teacher identity,
- thought about how these ideas may impact their teaching practice.

This course focuses on the development of students' knowledge about teaching and learning as well as their critical literacy. Through exploring a topic of current importance in the field of teaching and learning second languages, students will broaden their understanding of diverse issues in this area with connections to the Quebec educational landscape when appropriate. Through readings and discussions, students will critically reflect on and analyse these key issues. The topic(s) chosen for this course will vary based on the teacher's expertise, the students' needs, realities in Quebec second language classrooms and the evolution of research topics in the field of teaching and learning second languages.
