Description
To give beginners enough familiarity with English to take [LAN2110 Communication orale en anglais I (intermédiaire 1)]. This course is designed for those who have been classed and avised by the placement test that their level is too low for any English course in the "Ecole de langues". It proceeds mainly through self-paced computer-based lessons in the basic vocabulary, phonology, and syntax of English. The course proceeds on a "mastery" basis: a lesson is presented, practiced, and tested; if the student passes the test, s/he moves on to the next lesson, or otherwise repeats the lesson. When a certain number of tests have been passed, the student is deemed ready for [LAN2111 Intermediate Oral English]. Registration for this course follows regular procedures, but individual starting dates can be arranged as well. There is an English-speaking monitor to get the student started, help with any difficulties, and provide a certain amount of conversational practice.
